Home Advice for Trainees Insurance/Indemnity
PDF Print E-mail

Trainees are required to have appropriate medical indemnity insurance (including run-off cover) when undertaking training activities. If your hospital/employer does not provide this indemnity, you will be required or expected to provide your own indemnity.

As hospital/employer indemnity arrangements for registrars vary across Australia, trainees should:

  • Contact their employer and/or State or Territory health department for advice
  • Advise their current insurer of any changed circumstances to their training activities. This includes any private placements the trainee is completing during the year.
