Home Advice for Trainees Insurance/Indemnity
|
Trainees are required to have appropriate medical indemnity insurance (including run-off cover) when undertaking training activities. If your hospital/employer does not provide this indemnity, you will be required or expected to provide your own indemnity.
As hospital/employer indemnity arrangements for registrars vary across Australia, trainees should:
- Contact their employer and/or State or Territory health department for advice
- Advise their current insurer of any changed circumstances to their training activities. This includes any private placements the trainee is completing during the year.
The issue of medical indemnity was discussed at a 2010 information workshop. Click below to hear the discussion.
