The purpose of the Developing Capacity in Private Posts project is to engage private sector participation in psychiatry training by:

  • Identifying and reporting on the benefits of psychiatry training posts in the private sector
  • Identifying barriers and providing recommendations for private sector organisations obtaining psychiatry training posts
  • Identifying and reporting on the educational and support requirements for trainees and supervisors in the private sector
  • Developing resources to encourage the private sector to participate in the STP and increase its capacity to deliver training

 

Delivery of this support project will ensure:

  • Trainees are exposed to a greater casemix and psychotherapy techniques
  • Private sector organisations have readily available access to a greater number of psychiatric training program resources
  • Recommendations for barriers permitting private sector organisations applying for psychiatry training posts are available
  • Overall promotion of the STP to private sector organisations
